John L. Wilson Arena and Eagles Arena are regulation hockey arenas, and the home of the Jamestown Blue Jay, Prowl Hockey, University of Jamestown Jimmies Hockey Teams as well as the James River Figure Skating Club. Eagles Arena has a sand floor and Wilson arena has a concrete floor. During the months of September through April the Arenas are used for hockey, figure skating, youth hockey games and tournaments, the annual Ice Show, public indoor walking and public skating. The arena may also be rented for private parties and events or just to have a skating party. So when it starts to get chilly out remember John L. Wilson Arena for Fun! PUBLIC SKATING AT WINTER SPORTS BUILDING
The Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department offers public skating from September through March. Daily Admission is: Children – $5.00, Adults – $8.00 and Families – $15.00. Ice Skate Rentals – $5.00. Skate sharpening is also available.
Blue Cross Blue Shield Sponsors Free Skate Rentals During Open Skate at Wilson Sports Building
Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department (JPRD) is excited to announce that Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota will sponsor free skate rentals during Wednesday night Open Skate sessions, as well as on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, from November through March at the Winter Sports Building.
This sponsorship provides community members with the opportunity to enjoy one of Jamestown’s favorite winter pastimes at a reduced cost. While skate rentals will be free during these sessions, regular Open Skate admission fees will still apply.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Blue Cross Blue Shield to make skating more accessible for everyone,” said Christopher Newans, Facility Manger at the Winter Sports Building. “Open Skate is one of our most popular family activities during the winter months, and this sponsorship helps more people get on the ice and have fun.”
Open Skate is offered at Wilson Arena from October through March, giving skaters of all ages a place to stay active and enjoy the season.

These public skate times are set for the entire winter. Weather conditions and the safety of the WSB users is a priority. Any possible cancellations will be posted here and on our Winter Sports Building Facebook page.
STICK HANDLING SND SHOOTING AREA
The northwest corner of Eagles Arena has a synthetic shooting area to improve stick handling and shooting skills. We also offer shooting lessons from within, please inquire for pricing and availability by calling 701-252-3939 and ask for Chris. Stick handling & shooting area is open 7 days a week during business hours of operation, PLEASE clean up after yourselves.
SKATE SHARPENING
The Winter Sports Building has a Sparx Skate Sharpening machine to sharpen hockey skates, figure skates & goalie skates.
Fees: $10.00 per pair or purchase a punch card – 12$100.00
Open Roller Skate
Join us during the months of June and July for open roller skating at the Winter Sports BuildingBring your own roller skates or roller blades and enjoy the fun.We do not have skates available for rent.

STREET HOCKEY
Check out our free open play street hockey during the month of July in the west parking lot of the Winter Sports Building.We will provide hockey sticks, pucks and nets.Please wear closed toe athletic shoes and join us for some fun!You don’t have to be an experienced hockey player to join in the fun, it’s a great, fun activity for any skill set.Join us on Sunday nights in July to check out how fun street hockey can be.
