Park/Facility Usage Permit

A permit is required to reserve a playfield, facility, or to use a park for a large gathering.  The Park/Facility Permit allow Jamestown Parks and Recreation to prevent conflicts, make necessary preparations such as power, lighting, etc.; to provide personnel and facilities such as access to lavatories; and to avoid overuse of facilities.

 

If you are wanting to reserve a picnic shelter only for a birthday party or small gathering please refer to our Picnic Shelter Reservation Form.

2. Download, print and complete our Park/Facility Permit Application PDF and email back to office@jamestownparksandrec.com or drop off at the Parks Office located at 1002 2nd Ave SE in Jamestown.

Metal Detecting

Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department recognized metal detecting as a recreational activity in its parks. Metal detecting involves the use of a device which senses the presence of metal to locate objects. Metal detecting is allowed in the Jamestown parks with the following guidelines:

 

  • Metal detecting is permitted only when parks are open (sunrise to sunset).
  • Metal detecting is not permitted when parks/facilities are in use for other activities (e.g. city events).
  • Metal detecting is not permitted in areas that are under construction.
  • Metal detecting is not permitted on any Jamestown athletic field. · Digging is allowed to a depth of 8 inches with appropriate tools (e.g. trowel, flathead screwdriver).
  • Larger digging tools such as shovels are not permitted. All plugs of earth removed must be replaced.
  • Individuals are required to report and turn in any item with a value of more than $25 to the Jamestown Parks and Recreation Administration Office to be held for 30 days. The items may be picked up after 30 days if the owner of the item does not claim it.
  • Individuals are required to report and turn in any item that may have historical significance to the Jamestown Parks and Recreation Administration Office.
  • All other park policies must be followed.
